Caring for your jewellery
Mayuri makes high-end jewelry in noble metals and precious stones. In order to guarantee them a long-lasting conservation in the best conditions, we advise you to respect these care instructions.
Silver and Vermeil Jewelry Care
Silver is a malleable metal that will adapt to your shape and will take on a patina over the years.
Your jewelry is in direct contact with your skin, with your clothes, but also with pollution and humidity. It is therefore important to take good care of your jewellery and to respect our care advice in order to keep it as long as possible:
- Avoid contact with chemicals and corrosive products.
- Remove your jewelry while you're doing your chores.
- Remember to remove your jewellery before any sporting activity to keep it looking good and to prevent it from clashing.
- Remove your jewellery before you go to bed so that your jewellery doesn't get caught on your movements at night.
- Keep your jewellery in its original box to avoid colliding with other objects.
- Only use your chamois to clean your jewellery and use soapy water.
- Avoid folding and unfolding your bangles too much. Repeatedly extending your jewellery makes it fragile.
- Avoid all contact with water, remove your jewellery before a shower, or while swimming.
Care of gold jewellery with precious stones
Did you just buy a piece of gold jewelry? Then it's time to take an interest in its maintenance!
Yeah, that's probably something we don't necessarily pay attention to. We wear our jewelry every day without necessarily caring about its maintenance. A gold jewel remains a valuable object for which it too needs attention. We tend to forget sometimes to take off our gold rings before washing our hands, sleeping, and many other situations that can dirty and tarnish your ring. Most of our rings are adorned with precious stones and here again you need to be more careful about their care and maintenance.
Wearing jewellery on a daily basis follows you everywhere in your every move, which is why it is necessary to follow our care advice to ensure the longevity of your jewellery.
Don't worry, if you see traces of wear and tear despite regular maintenance, it is perfectly normal. To eliminate the wear of the metal on your ring, a polishing at a jeweller's will suffice to restore it to a like-new condition and absolute brilliance. It is advisable to do this every 3 to 5 years.
How do I take good care of my gold ring?
Whether it is Yellow Gold, White Gold, or Gold, each of its metals must be maintained with carerose gold. Many solutions exist but the latter, a mixture of warm water and Marseille soap or dishwashing liquid is the most appropriate to suit these three metals.
Let's take a detailed look at the different solutions for these three metals.
How do I take good care of my yellow gold ring?
For yellow gold, there are several mixing solutions depending on what you have in your closet :
- Dishwashing Liquid or Marseille Soap + Warm Water
- Coca Cola
- White vinegar + Warm water
- Sodium bicarbonate + Warm water
- Toothpaste
For each of these solutions, with the exception of the toothpaste, we advise you to leave them to soak for about 20 minutes in the mixture you have chosen beforehand and then rinse them with cold water. Once rinsed, be sure to dry your ring gently with a microfibre cloth, a chamois or chamois leather.
If you have chosen to clean your jewelry with toothpaste, apply this paste to your metal and rub lightly with a soft bristle toothbrush. Once finished, rinse with cold water and dry your jewelry.
How do I take good care of my white gold ring?
For White Gold, only one technique is recommended. That of lukewarm water mixed with a few drops of Marseille soap. Please use the same technique as above.
But why?
When we make your jewelry in white gold, the dominant color is yellow. White gold 18 karats for example, composed of 75% yellow gold and 25% silver, platinum or nickel must then be coated with a layer of rhodium. This precious metal, on the one hand gives it a white colour but also allows you to be the "protective guardian" of your jewel.
This layer of rhodium fades from year to year, and tends to become yellowish, which is why it is advisable to go to a jeweller's to apply a layer of rhodium on your white gold jewelry.
Little info in + : Since polishing is required before any new application of rhodium layers, one pass every two or three years is more than enough to avoid weakening your jewel too much.
How do I take good care of my ring byrose gold ...
On the siderose gold, no contraindications. You can use the different solutions proposed in the section "How to take good care of my yellow gold ring".

The composition of l'rose gold is defined by a mixture of three alloys: pure yellow gold, copper and silver. But it is the copper this time which represents the first role because it is copper which will make its pink color more or less pronounced according to the percentage of metal involved in its alloy.
Small info in +: Your ring will rose gold keep its pink colour even with time.
What about my precious stones?
Precious stones such as diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald all have a different degree of resistance and therefore a more marked fragility for some. Here are therefore our precious advice to carefully care for your stones in order to preserve their brilliance and longevity.
What object(s) and materials would I need?
Soft bristle toothbrush
Dishwashing liquid (no chemical or corrosive products) or Marseille soap.
A container of warm water
A container of cold water
A microfiber cloth, paper towel or chamois.
How to take good care of your diamond jewelry?
Diamond is said to be the most resistant and therefore the least fragile of all gemstones. That being said, it requires a delicate maintenance on your part.
The first step is to dust off your stone(s) in every nook and cranny. Remove any small dirt or even cream residue that may have gotten lodged in the setting of your stone(s). A simple soft bristle toothbrush will do the trick, but be careful, it is advisable to do it delicately.
For the second step: In your first container, mix a little dishwashing liquid or Marseille soap with warm water.
Step 3: Place your ring inside and leave it to soak for about 10 minutes. This step will remove the last few residues or impurities that you could not remove with your toothbrush.
Step Four: After rinsing your ring with cold water, use your super microfiber or chamois cloth to absorb the maximum amount of water remaining on your ring to dry it completely.
Small info: Diamond is a stone sensitive to grease and dirt. Prefer a degreasing washing-up liquid.
However, if your ring contains stones other than diamonds, please consult the section on other stones concerned.
How to take good care of your jewelry adorned with sapphire or ruby?
Sapphire and ruby are considered to be resistant gemstones.
Ruby and sapphire is just behind diamond in terms of hard and resistant stone grading. It is therefore an extremely robust stone that does not scratch easily.
You can also use the same technique as for the maintenance of a diamond jewel. Always clean your jewelry with care.
How to take good care of your emerald jewelry?
About the emerald, it is one of the most fragile and delicate of all precious stones.
If you wish to take care of your emerald jewellery, it is strongly advised not to subject it to too great a temperature variation, as this could further weaken the stone. The care advice is therefore similar to the other sections on jewellery with a precious stone, but try to be even more vigilant about its care and also about how it is worn on a daily basis.
