The Emerald

The emerald is a precious stone,  just like the diamond, sapphire and ruby.

Its use dates back to ancient times. Emeralds were used in the form of jewelry 5000 years ago in ancient Egypt,  and 2000 years ago under the Babylonian Empire as a currency.

It is said that Cleopatra absolutely loved this gemstone and that she frequently gifted emeralds to her close circle.

Relatively more delicate stone than the sapphire and the diamond, it must be handled with the utmost care. You will recognize natural emeralds by the presence of their small inclusions called "garden" or "frost".
